Sorry for being lax on posting

Wow it's been since April since my last post! :-O Woops!

What have I been working on? My niece Noelle's giant granny square afghan (her Christmas gift) as well as I just began an easy table runner for our coffee table in the living room. And eventually I need to get 10-12 skeins of yarn to make a Sweet Sweater since it's a hit at Plus Sized Crochet yahoogroup.

The fall and winter always is perfect for making crochet stuff! I hope to make a table runner for a few family members as Christmas gifts.

Woot!

I have to share something! Today I crocheted a pair of gloves for my son Alex, since he always seems to misplace his either in the car or somewheres around this apartment. So I got some teal and some black acrylic yarn, and got a G hook out, and whipped up a pair - my FIRST EVER attempt to making stuff other than blankets, scarves and granny squares! I learned how to increase and decrease in single crochet and it was neat! They may not look like the best but they suit their purpose and Alex loves them. He just said, "Dom är så mjuka, Mamma!" which means "They are so soft, Mom!" in Swedish. (He prefers Swedish and oftentimes mixes the two languages together in sentences. hehe)

Oh and I am so proud, he can count up to 10 already! I guess with the 1-10 wooden puzzle we play with and some Playhouse Disney shows (Mickey's Clubhouse, Small Einsteins) that do counting, he's learned!

March is National Crochet Month

National Crochet Month!

March 1 - 31 has been dubbed National Crochet Month by the Crochet Guild of America, and here on Ravelry, yarn lovers worldwide are gearing up to celebrate! Whether you’ve been crocheting since you were a toddler, or have yet to pick up a hook for the first time, Ravelry offers pattern resources, technique tips, and a thriving community of welcoming crocheters. In honor of this month, the CGOA is asking crocheters learn a new stitch or technique and share their love of the craft -by teaching someone to crochet, crocheting something for charity. (More official activities and information can be found in the CGOA Ravelry Group.)

Ravelry Crochet Resources

Ravelry has always been a community for knitters and crocheters alike - yarn lovers are all welcome! You can find thousands of crochet patterns and, at press time, nearly 1300 crochet-related groups right here on Ravelry. Whether you want to learn about Tapestry Crochet or Amigurumi, there is a group (or two!) for you. Longtime knitter who has never picked up a hook? Join the Fibre Alliance - a group dedicated to helping knitters learn to crochet, and vice versa! Feel like making delicate doilies? Check out Doilie Heads or Threadies. There are groups for Granny Squares, several magazines, and of course, the all-encompassing group, Crochet on Ravelry.

In honor of National Crochet month, all Ravelers are invited to check out the Party: National Crochet Month on Ravelry group! (This group is taking the party to the next level, declaring it “International Crochet Month” on Ravelry!) There are games, exhibits, crochet-alongs, and general crochet chit-chat all month long. Join the group, join the fun!

For the month of March, along with our focus on Charity, This Week in Ravelry will offer crochet-related articles and features. As always, we welcome your ideas and submissions in the This Week in Ravelry group!

If you’re not hooked on crochet yet… what are you waiting for?
